Dyna Five Group Announces Buyout From Gradco

Dyna Five Corp. of Anaheim said Monday that it has completed a management buyout--led by founder R.J. Thielen--from Gradco Systems Inc. in Irvine. The price was not disclosed.

Dyna Five was acquired in 1987 by Gradco, a maker of copier products, as part of a move into the computer-products business. But last year the money-losing parent company decided to move much of its operations overseas.

“The recent movement of Gradco manufacturing and marketing operations to Japan, combined with our desire for more autonomy, made this an ideal time for a buyout,†said Dick Wallace, vice president of sales and marketing for Dyna Five.

Dyna Five’s management group includes Thielen, chairman; Samuel D. Lane, president, and Gordon Cottrell, managing director of the company’s subsidiary in England.

The company, which makes custom and standard enclosures for computers, employs 25 people and anticipates sales of $5 million in 1991.
