Superior Court Judge William Howatt Wednesday sentenced a former sailor to 29 years to life in prison for the July 23 murder of his estranged girlfriend.
Anthony Shipman, 25, who had been assigned as a guard at the Navy Amphibious Base in Coronado, was convicted of first-degree murder Dec. 13. in the Paradise Hills slaying of Terese Buckley, 28. The body of the woman, who was shot seven times, was discovered by her 5-year-old daughter.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Sharon Majors said the slaying took place after Buckley had broken up with Shipman.
The killing took place at Buckley’s residence in the 6800 block of Benjamin Holt Road.
