Man Gets 19 Years to Life in Killing
A 27-year-old man was sentenced to 19 years to life in prison Wednesday for the shooting death of another man during a dispute in Van Nuys.
Horasio Camacho was sentenced by Van Nuys Superior Court Judge Michael J. Farrell for the May 27 shooting of Aaron Hernandez, 23, near Blythe Street and Kester Avenue.
Camacho was arrested shortly after the killing and identified by a witness as the gunman during his trial last month.
A jury found him guilty Dec. 20 of second-degree murder.
Camacho has continued to deny his guilt in the slaying.
During Wednesday’s sentencing, he turned to members of Hernandez’s family in the courtroom and said in Spanish, “You will know who it really was. With your own eyes you will see.â€
Deputy Dist. Atty. Sandra Flannery said the reason for the dispute that resulted in the shooting was unknown.
