Case Shouldn’t Be Tried in the Paper

Shame on The Times for its handling of the Hank Gathers lawsuit coverage. The Constitution grants to all defendants a fair trial in a court of law. However, by repeatedly printing Mr. Fagel’s allegations, The Times has presented Fagel as judge, jury and executioner before millions of Times readers.

I can hope only that, in the event the courts find the defendants not guilty, The Times will extend as much coverage exonerating Paul Westhead, Loyola and the other defendants that it has heretofore allotted to Mr. Fagel’s claims.
