SAN CLEMENTE : City Limits Parking in Industrial Area
The City Council has agreed to restrict curbside parking in an industrial area where trucks on a narrow roadway have been involved in several collisions.
Recent changes mandate parking on only one side of Avenida Navarro, the site of numerous vehicle repair shops and related businesses. Also approved was a tow-away zone for cars parked on the street between 2 and 5 a.m.
Avenida Navarro, located just west of Interstate 5, loops north from Avenida Pico and joins Calle de Los Molinos. This popular local truck route has been congested with parked cars along the street, which makes the roadway so narrow that trucks and cars cannot pass each other, said project engineer Akram Hindiyeh.
In the past 3 years, 7 accidents have been reported along the short street, most of them involving parked cars, Hindiyeh said.
