New Ballet Won’t Be Ready in Time for ABT’s Costa Mesa Performance
A new ballet by Clark Tippet, originally announced to receive its premiere during the American Ballet Theatre’s March 12 through 24 engagement at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa, will not be ready in time, according to a company spokesman.
Mark Morris’ “Drink to Me Only With Thine Eyes,†seen locally when ABT was at the Center in 1988, will be danced in its place March 14 and 23.
The announcement came hot on the heels of ABT’s announcement Monday that Carla Fracci and Fernando Bujones, who are guest artists with the company this season, would not be dancing at the Center.
Fracci and Bujones will join ABT in Washington and New York City but not in Chicago, San Francisco or Costa Mesa.
