Dan O’Brien, senior vice president of the Angels, spoke with Gary Gaetti’s agent this week while in Chicago for Player Relations Committee meetings, but the Angels haven’t raised their four-year, $10.8-million offer to the 32-year-old third baseman.
Club President Richard Brown said he will meet with O’Brien and General Manager Mike Port Monday to assess the Angels’ chances of signing Gaetti, who is a new-look free agent. Gaetti has until Jan. 29 to sign a new contract with the Minnesota Twins or accept another offer.
