The University of Dayton plans to play DePaul on Thursday night as scheduled despite flooding at the basketball arena that had threatened to postpone the game, school officials said Wednesday.

Athletic Director Tom Frericks said the water that had covered the court has been removed and a portable hardwood playing surface will be placed over the original Tartan court.

Frericks said the Tartan surface is dry, but crews were still pumping water from the building.

The $50,000 hardwood court was removed Monday when water from rain and melting snow begin flooding the arena.

By Tuesday, the Tartan floor was covered with nearly two inches of water.

The Dayton-DePaul game is scheduled to be televised nationally by ESPN.
