Alan E. Irish was unanimously elected president of the Orange Unified School District Board of Education on Thursday.
Irish, who succeeds board member Jeff Holstein as president, was elected to the five-member panel in November, 1989.
“This is going to be a transition year for the district,” Irish said. “We are going to work on straightening out a negative financial situation and do some long-range planning in the areas of curriculum, finance and development of human resources.”
Irish, 47, is a self-employed certified public accountant and has three sons attending district schools.
Also elected to new positions during the board’s annual reorganizational meeting were Barry Resnick, vice president; and Lila Beavens, clerk.
