P.M. BRIEFING : $515-Million Project Set for Unocal’s Wilmington Refinery
Unocal Corp. today announced a $515-million project that will allow the company to produce low-emission gasolines, increase gas production and reduce sulfur emissions at its Wilmington refinery.
The project will include installation of a 55,000-barrel-per-day fluid catalytic cracker feed hydro-treater, a hydrogen plant and related sulfur recovery units.
The project will enable Unocal to produce reformulated gasolines and substantially reduce sulfur oxide emissions from the FCC unit.
The new facilities are expected to begin operation in late 1993. Cost of the project will be financed through internally generated funds.
