GM Extends Shutdown at Van Nuys: General Motors Corp. said it will extend the holiday shutdown of its Van Nuys assembly plant by two weeks, to Jan. 14. GM cited excessive supplies of the Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird, which are built there. The plant, which employs about 3,500, has been closed since Dec. 17. GM also extended by two weeks holiday shutdowns at its plants in Fairfax, Kan.; Tarrytown, N.Y., and Oklahoma City.
