In other nonconference men’s basketball games:
Cal State Stanislaus, 84, Chapman 78--After Stanislaus built a 56-41 lead with 12:46 left, Chapman rallied to 68-62 with 4:31 left, but couldn’t pull any closer.
Forward Rog Middleton had 23 points and 12 rebounds for Chapman (5-4). Zlatko Josic added 15 and Andre Hill had 13.
Guard Brian Roscoe of Stanislaus (4-5) led all scorers with 24 points.
“We weren’t able to shut down Stanislaus,” Chapman Coach Bob Boyd said. “I just don’t think we could guard them. Their three-point shooting and perimeter shooting was impressive.”
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 74, Christ College Irvine 72 (OT)--Ryan McKee scored 24 points for host Claremont (8-0). Corey Smith scored 21 and Carl Bronson had 15 for Christ College Irvine (3-8).
