BOYS’ HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Barron, Amar Lead Santa Clara Over Agoura
Art Barron scored 19 points and Steve Amar added 16 to pace host Santa Clara High to an 81-63 nonleague victory over Agoura on Tuesday.
With the win, the Saints improve to 6-1.
Agoura’s Sean Martin scored a game-high 33 points.
In other boys’ basketball games:
Thousand Oaks 97, Calabasas 78--Chris Loll scored 25 points and Brian Capella finished with 24 to lead the Lancers against Calabasas in the first round of the Thousand Oaks tournament.
Tom Hoover scored a game-high 32 points and Jason Young finished with 19 for Calabasas.
Hoover 71, San Marino 41--Dave Ulloa scored 22 points and Gabe Alvarado added 15 to pace the Tornadoes’ nonleague victory against visiting San Marino (1-4).
Hoover (4-2) jumped out to a 39-17 lead at halftime.
Antelope Valley 80, Apple Valley 45--Willie Montgomery scored a game-high 16 points to lead Antelope Valley in a nonleague game at home.
Reynell Dunbar had 12 points for Antelope Valley (3-5), which raced to a 35-11 lead at halftime.
Faith Baptist 63, Fillmore 54--Alex Estrada scored 27 points and made 13 of 15 free throws as Faith Baptist (5-1) won a nonleague game at Fillmore.
Peter Rasmussen had 18 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Richard Aguilera led Fillmore (4-2) with 25 points.
Campbell Hall 57, Cantwell 42--Off-guard Austin McKellar scored a game-high 18 points and added seven rebounds to lead the Vikings in a nonleague game.
C. J. Thompkins had 17 points and seven assists for visiting Campbell Hall (5-0) and freshman center Alex Lopez added 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Rio Hondo Prep 73, Providence 66--Todd Carson scored 32 points to pace Rio Hondo Prep’s nonleague victory at Providence.
Brett Ferrante led the Pioneers with 16 points, followed by Chris Jones with 14.
Rosemead 74, Montclair Prep 61--Joe Diep’s 32 points helped Rosemead (4-1) defeat the Mounties (6-2) in a semifinal game of the Flintridge Prep tournament.
The Mounties, who trailed, 36-31, at halftime, were led by J. T. Billingslea, who scored 15 points.
Chris Sanger had 12 points and 10 rebounds and Kris Johnson added 10 points and 15 rebounds.
Highland Hall 78, Hillcrest Christian 61--John Klejnot scored 38 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to pace host Highland Hall (3-2, 1-0) in a Westside League game.
Chaminade 62, L.A. Baptist 54--Richard Fei scored a game-high 19 points to lead Chaminade in a nonleague game.
Robert Holland added 12 points for Chaminade. Dan Shackelford (17 points) and Alex Pistone (14) led L. A. Baptist (0-2).
