U.S. Help for Food Shortages in Soviet Union

According to your article (Dec. 2), the Soviet Union already has an alternative economic system. It’s now in place and described in your article as the “black market.†The black market (free market in a controlled society) now constitutes half of the economy. If Gorbachev gets his minions out of the way, perhaps its expansion can resolve the crises. It will certainly not help to ship them more food since your article indicates they are not effectively distributing what they now have.

Socialism and the planned economy doesn’t effectively work either here or in the Soviet. How long does it take to get this simple message across?
