New York Daily News Sues Unions: The paper filed a $150-million racketeering suit alleging that 23 striking drivers, one union and the group representing all strikers have conducted “a campaign of terror†against replacement workers and newsstand owners. The suit, filed in U.S. District Court in Manhattan, named the Allied Newspaper and Mail Deliverers union, 23 members--including three union officials--and the Allied Printing Trades Council, the umbrella group for the strikers. Among the charges in the suit are attempted murder, arson, extortion and robbery.
