Wendy’s International: The Dublin, Ohio-based hamburger chain’s third-quarter profit rose 45% to $12.7 million as sales slipped to $257.5 million from $269.3 million from a year ago. The company cited across-the-board reductions in operating expenses, including lower food costs, a reduction in the use of discount coupons and a continued long-term emphasis on cutting costs.
