COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Rancho Santiago Falls to Fullerton in Soccer

Daren Martinez scored in the first half to lead Fullerton College to a 1-0 victory over Rancho Santiago in an Orange Empire Conference soccer match Friday at Fullerton.

Fullerton is 8-8-2, 6-3-1 in conference play and tied for second. The loss dropped Rancho Santiago (6-2-2) into a first-place tie with Orange Coast.

Golden West 1, Orange Coast 1--Jesse Zamora scored for Golden West (6-8-3, 3-4-3) and Andy Strouse scored for host Orange Coast (8-6-2, 6-2-2). Chris Lekavich had 19 saves for Golden West.

Irvine Valley 5, San Bernardino Valley 0--Mike Densmore, Piero Mendiola, Ryan Tinsley, Darren Wittenmeier and Brad Wilson scored for host Irvine Valley (11-1-6, 4-1-5).

In Orange Empire Conference water polo:

Grossmont 13, Saddleback 10--Omar Ward scored three goals for host Saddleback (8-17, 3-17).

Orange Coast 2, Palomar 1--Heather Webb and Elizabeth Brown scored for Orange Coast (8-2-7, 1-2).

Golden West 2, Long Beach 1--Amy Utter and Leanna Jay scored for host Golden West (6-6-2, 2-2-1).
