Worthy, Magic Let Lakers Cut Down the Nets, 103-94
CALGARY — James Worthy scored 24 points and Magic Johnson had 13 assists as the Lakers beat the New Jersey Nets, 103-94, in an NBA exhibition Friday night.
Terry Teagle added 18 points for the Lakers (5-2), who never trailed.
Reggie Theus scored 16 points and Chris Dudley had 17 rebounds for New Jersey (2-3).
The game drew 14,409 to the Olympic Saddledome. The teams will play again tonight in Edmonton.
New Jersey’s Sam Bowie did not make the trip because of an injured left Achilles’ tendon. Bowie did not suit up against the Minnesota Timberwolves Wednesday, and he played only one half against the Miami Heat Tuesday.
The Nets are still without Derrick Coleman, the top pick in the draft, who is reportedly asking for a five-year, $15-million contract.
