PIERCE COLLEGE : Student Journalists to Compete
More than 400 student journalists representing 29 colleges from Southern California and Arizona are expected to compete for awards at the annual Journalism Assn. of Community Colleges regional conference today at Pierce College.
The event coincides with the college’s annual Harvest Festival, which will be the subject of the feature photograph competition. Feature writers will write about the Pierce College swap meet.
U.S. Customs inspectors will hold a news conference for news writers and demonstrate an equipment and dog handling for news photographers.
A golf demonstration is scheduled in the sports photography contest, and a mock news conference will be held for sports writers.
The subject of the editorial writing and cartooning competition will be a video titled “Faces of the Enemy.â€
