Alpharel Inc. Reports First Profit in 3 Years

Alpharel Inc., a struggling Camarillo company that makes computer data storage devices, reported its first profitable quarter in three years, earning $265,000 on revenue of $1.42 million in its third quarter ended Sept. 30. This compared with a loss of $2.41 million on sales of $1.01 million a year ago.

For the nine months ended Sept. 30, Alpharel lost $125,000, compared with a loss of $7.07 million last year. Alpharel’s nine-month revenues grew 14% to $3.84 million from $3.37 million a year before.

Alpharel attributed the improved results to cost-cutting efforts.
