SHORT TAKES : Gender Key to ‘L.A. Law’ Villain

Diana Muldaur of “L.A. Law” says the wickedly insensitive lawyer she plays draws attention mainly because she is a woman.
“If it were a man doing the same things, no one would blink,” she said about her character, Rosalind Shays, in a recent interview.
“In fact, it wouldn’t even be good copy,” said the veteran actress, who was nominated for an Emmy for best supporting actress last season.
“It goes on every day.”
Muldaur’s character was ousted from the “L.A. Law” firm at the end of last season. She resurfaced in the season opener of the NBC series last week, filing a $500,000 sex-discrimination suit.
