SHORT TAKES : ‘Adam-12’ Voice Leaves LAPD

The woman whose voice sent police officers on calls in the Martin Milner-Kent McCord TV series “Adam-12” has retired from her job as a real-life dispatcher.
Sharon Cooper, 52, spent her last day at the Los Angeles Police Department on Sunday after 30 years on the force.
Cooper provided the voice-over introduction and radio calls for the police drama during its 1968-75 run. She also worked on “Dragnet,” which ran from 1952 to 1970. Both series were created by Jack Webb.
Cooper was one of the best dispatchers in the department, said Officer Don Lawrence. “Officers were sending her messages all day Sunday,” he said.
