Idaho Rolls to a 51-28 Victory

SPOKANE, Wash. — Running backs Devon Pearce and Roman Carter each ran for two touchdowns as Idaho defeated Eastern Washington 51-28 Saturday in a Big Sky Conference game.
The Vandals (5-3 overall, 3-2 in the Big Sky) led 20-0 in the second quarter after Thayne Doyle kicked field goals of 25 and 22 yards and Pearce ran for touchdowns from the 2 and the 1.
The Eagles (3-4, 2-4) got on the scoreboard with a 7-yard scoring pass from backup quarterback Scott Stuart to freshman wide receiver Tony Brooks to trial 20-7 at halftime.
Idaho took a 27-7 lead when linebacker Jimmy Jacobs intercepted a Stuart pass and ran 35 yards to score.
Eastern closed the gap to 27-14 when Stuart hit tight end Darin Harvey over the middle for a 20-yard TD pass with 8:35 left in the third quarter.
Running back Roman Carter extended Idaho’s lead to 41-14 on third-quarter scoring runs of five and 22 yards.
