Virginia Tech has been invited to join the Atlantic 10 Conference, the Dominion Post of Morgantown, W.Va., reported.
The school, a member of the Metro Conference in all sports except football, would replace Penn State, which is moving the Big Ten Conference after the current school year.
Sources who asked anonymity confirmed the invitation, the newspaper reported. Atlantic 10 Commissioner Ron Bertovich denied the invitation was extended.
