Course 1 at Brookside Golf Course will be upgraded from municipal-level to more challenging, resort-level play with $300,000 worth of improvements financed by a fee increase approved Tuesday by the city Board of Directors.
American Golf Corp., which operates the city-owned golf course, proposed the improvements as a way to increase city revenues to $4.1 million annually from Brookside’s two courses, which currently yield $3.3 million.
Under the plan, fees for playing 18 holes at Course 1 would be $12 for residents and $20 for non-residents. Fees at Course 2, which will be kept at its current municipal-level of play, will be $11 for residents and $15 for non-residents. Residents now pay $10 and non-residents $13 at both courses.
Fees for tournaments, reservation cards and golf carts will also increase.
