FILDERSTADT, Germany — Top-seeded Gabriela Sabatini of Argentina defeated France’s Julie Halard, 6-4, 6-3, today in the women’s Porsche Grand Prix tournament.
Rosalyn Fairbank of the United States came from behind to beat Germany’s Katja Oeljeklaus, 1-6, 6-4, 6-4, and Argentina’s Mercedes Paz overcame Heike Thoms of Germany, 7-6, 6-1.
Fifth-seeded Jana Novotna of Czechoslovakia defeated Pascale Etchemendy of France, 6-4, 6-0.
