A Compton police detective from Newbury Park has raised the largest campaign fund of the candidates running for the Thousand Oaks City Council.

Michael Markey reported contributions of $6,825 by Sept. 30, the first deadline for reports to be filed with the city clerk. Markey is financing most of the campaign himself, with only $425 in contributions from other donors.

Markey’s campaign contributions exceed the amounts raised by Mayor Alex Fiore and Councilman Lawrence Horner.

Fiore’s financial report showed contributions of $4,723, the second-largest amount raised in the race.

Horner raised only $1,135 to keep his seat.

Elois Zeanah, who heads the Conejo League of Homeowners, reported $4,675 in contributions in her council campaign.

Thousand Oaks Planning Commissioner Judy Lazar has raised $3,985 for her campaign. Robert O’Brien, a former city building director, has raised $3,259.
