MILAN, Italy — Brazil’s national soccer team will play an exhibition game against a “Rest of the World†selection at Milan’s San Siro stadium on Oct. 31 in celebration of Pele’s 50th birthday.
Pele, one of the world’s most popular soccer players ever, will play at least half the game in the 84,000-seat Milan arena. The retired Brazilian star has been training twice a day for two months and has undergone a special diet to prepare for the event.
Organizers said that Diego Maradona of Argentina will be among the players on the selection team, to be coached by Franz Beckenbauer, the coach of the West German world champions.
