School: Rancho Alamitos

Sport: Football

Position: Running Back

Class: Senior

He is relatively diminutive by football standards, 5 feet 8 and 140 pounds, so Ulysses Trammell’s size doesn’t intimidate many people. But his skills should.

Trammell broke tackle after tackle in rushing for 224 yards in 20 carries and scored four touchdowns to lead Rancho Alamitos to a 34-12 victory over Bolsa Grande Friday night. His 224 yards were more than all but two quarterbacks in Orange County were able to gain passing last week.

Trammell, a senior, is better known for his speed--he’s been timed at 9.8 seconds in the 100-yard dash--but Friday’s results were a combination of speed and his ability to break tackles.

On his first carry, Trammell ran 60 yards for a touchdown. He had 95 yards in six carries at halftime. He also scored on runs of 52 and 26 yards. Trammell’s fourth touchdown was a mere one-yard run, but he set it up with a 26-yard gain.
