Frances H. Jordan, a Lancaster resident who worked as a nurse at San Fernando Valley hospitals, has died in Newhall. She was 81.

Mrs. Jordan died Saturday of heart failure, said her daughter, Gloria Crowley.

She was born Frances H. Becker at sea on Aug. 30, 1909, while her mother was emigrating from Germany to the United States. She moved from Washington state to the San Fernando Valley in 1953 and worked at several area hospitals, including Olive View Medical Center in Sylmar, the former Pacoima Memorial Hospital and the former North Glendale Hospital. In 1975, she moved to Lancaster.

She is survived by her son, Adrian C. Mitchell of Lancaster; daughter Gloria Crowley of Lancaster; brother Earl G. Becker of Grandview, Wash.; sister Berniece DeLagassee of Yakima, Wash.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her husband, Floyd M. Jordan, died in 1984.

No local services are planned. Burial will be this week in Moxee City, Wash. Halley-Olsen Mortuary in Lancaster is handling the arrangements. Donations can be made in Mrs. Jordan’s name to the American Heart Assn.
