NEW YORK — “Cats,” Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Tony award-winning musical, celebrated its eighth birthday Sunday.
The fifth-longest running show in Broadway history, “Cats” opened at the Winter Garden Theater on Oct. 7, 1982, and played its 3,340th performance Sunday.
“Cats” opened originally in London’s West End at the New London Theater on May 11, 1981, where it continues to play to capacity houses.
