Avoiding Exercise Injuries

* Warm up: Start slow, stretch, move around before going full speed.

* Diversify: Instead of pounding your joints by jogging daily, swim, bicycle, walk, play tennis or golf, or dance.

* Remember the goal: It’s fitness, not the Olympics. Don’t overdo it.

* Eat right: Nutrition and weight control count.

* Be smart: Most 50-year-olds, for example, probably shouldn’t play rugby.

* Adjust: Everyone gets older. You can’t avoid it.

* Warm down: After a workout, walk around. Give yourself a chance to settle down--physically and mentally.

* Have fun: Don’t push yourself to the limit, thinking it will maximize your benefits.

* Avoid denial: Pay attention to your body’s aches and pains.
