Bakersfield 62, Ventura 20--Sophomore Shon Ellerbe rushed for 209 yards and four touchdowns to lead Bakersfield (4-0, 3-0) in a WSC game at Larrabee Stadium.
Ventura (0-4, 0-2) rushed for only 36 yards in 20 first-half carries. The Renegades totaled 333 yards in 37 carries en route to a 41-6 halftime bulge.
But Ventura played inspired defense in the first quarter and trailed Bakersfield, 7-6, after quarterback Tim Albrent tossed a 10-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Chris Thomas on the second play of the second quarter.
