Snappy Rap
Imagine: The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are in the midst of a big fight in a nightclub when, suddenly, a rapper takes to the floor . . . and those heroes on the half-shell join in, creating “Ninja rap.”
It’s just one of the wacky scenes planned for “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II,” which just began shooting on sets in Wilmington, N.C.
Produced by Golden Harvest Films, for distribution--on March 22--by New Line Cinema, the sequel will again involve the Turtles’ wise mentor, Splinter the rat, and plucky newscaster April O’Neil.
The new plot has the Turtles attempting to discover the secret of the magical radioactive ooze that transformed them to human size 15 years earlier, while the gang of teen thieves continues to run rampant in New York.
Look for two new villains, and for the Shredder--the evil assassin of Splinter’s ninja master--to slip into that special ooze and become . . . Supershredder.
Budgeted at $20 million, “II” is being directed by Michael Pressman, with screenplay by Todd W. Langen, who co-wrote “I.”
Negotiations are currently underway “with some big rappers” regarding the scene that will reportedly spawn the film’s theme song and a Turtles’ single.
