PRO FOOTBALL REPORT WEEKDAY UPDATE : RAMS : Jerry Gray Not Activated--Yet

The Rams, contrary to earlier reports, have not yet taken cornerback Jerry Gray off the injured reserve list. For now, he has been transferred to the team’s practice squad, where players who are on injured reserve but are practicing must be carried.
Gray, who missed the Rams’ first three games with a knee injury, will play Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, according to Coach John Robinson, but the team is waiting until Friday to activate him in case he reinjures his knee in practice before then.
A possible spot for Gray might have opened Wednesday when inside linebacker Greg Clark sprained his ankle. Robinson said he didn’t know the extent of the injury.
The Rams also signed defensive lineman Derrick Carr for their practice squad Wednesday, filling all five spots on the squad.
The Bengals, already forced to play the Rams in a short work week after losing in Seattle Monday night, will probably be going without star receiver Eddie Brown, who hurt his knee in that game.
Cincinnati Coach Sam Wyche said Brown hyper-extended the knee and that he probably will not play.
