Nynex Breakup Considered: The New York State Public Service Commission said it would look into breaking up Nynex, which controls phone companies in New York and New England, following a probe of so-called pervert conventions organized for company officials and its vendors in Florida. Nynex is an unregulated, regional holding company whose operating arm, New York Telephone, is subject to the commission’s rate and profit controls.
