BofA May Close Ecuador Retail Branches: BankAmerica Corp. said it has petitioned the superintendent of banks in Ecuador for permission to close its two branches in the country. BankAmerica said it wanted to replace the branches, in Guayaquil and Quito, with a representative office that would handle only wholesale banking activities, such as trade finance. The branches are operating with skeleton staffs pending the official decision, BankAmerica said.
