News at Sunrise: KCBS Channel 2 will expand its early morning weekday newscast to one hour beginning Oct. 22, knocking “The CBS Morning News,” anchored by Charles Osgood, off its schedule. The network news program has been airing at 6:30 a.m. since Channel 2 premiered its half-hour 6 a.m. local newscast 18 months ago. Anchored by Chris Conangla and Terry Anzur, Channel 2’s expanded broadcast will compete head to head with KNBC Channel 4’s top-rated morning newscast. KCAL Channel 9 airs a half-hour of news weekday mornings at 6 while KABC Channel 7 does the same at 6:30.
