WORLD IN BRIEF : CUBA : Rationing of Food, Clothing Extended

The Cuban government extended the rationing of food, clothing and household articles and restricted the sale of electrical items in a further sign that the island is feeling the pinch of cutbacks in Soviet imports. In a move to ensure fair distribution and prevent hoarding and black marketeering, the government imposed controls on the sale of 28 food items.
