One man was arrested and sheriff’s deputies seized about 8 gallons of the potent hallucinogenic drug PCP worth about $85,000 in a raid on a Willowbrook home, authorities said Wednesday.
Deputy John Ashley said a gang enforcement team on routine patrol smelled the drug’s characteristic strong odor along the 2000 block of East 130th Street about 11:45 p.m. Tuesday.
The deputies noticed one suspect carrying two one-quart beer bottles and a second suspect fled on foot as the officers got out of their patrol car. The bottles smelled of PCP, Ashley said.
Deputies searched the house and found the drug in two 5-gallon gasoline cans. The house apparently was not being lived in, he said.
Robbie Anderson, 24, of Lynwood, was arrested on suspicion of manufacturing and possession of PCP. He was held in lieu of $100,000 bail. The second suspect was being sought, Ashley said.
