LOCAL : Cyclist Dies in Sun Valley Crash
A 19-year-old man was killed when his motorcycle collided with a car at a Sun Valley intersection, Los Angeles police said today.
Julio Loaiza of Sun Valley died about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday in the accident at Sunland Boulevard and Nettleton Street, Sgt. John Amott said. Maria Duarte, 34, of Sun Valley, who was driving the car that collided with the motorcycle, was unhurt.
Amott said Duarte was northbound on Sunland Boulevard and attempted to turn left onto Nettleton when her car struck the oncoming motorcycle. The accident is still under investigation and police have not determined responsibility, whether Duarte turned improperly in front of Loaiza or the motorcyclist was speeding, Amott said.
