PREP FOOTBALL ROUNDUP : Bellflower beats Sonora With Late Field Goal

Doug Hallam’s 34-yard field goal in the final 10 seconds gave the Bellflower High School football team a 10-7 victory over Sonora Saturday at Bellflower High.

Bellflower received Sonora’s final punt on its 40-yard line in the final 1:25. Two plays later, Rick Snyder’s 42-yard pass to Joe Irving put the Buccaneers (2-1) in position to win.

Sonora (0-3) scored first on Ryan Lewis’ 14-yard pass to Richard Ybarra with 4:42 remaining in the first half. Lewis kicked the extra point. The drive began when Tim Gorman recovered a fumble by Bellflower quarterback Rick Snyder at the Sonora 31 (8:08).

Jacob Davis scored on a 1-yard run and Hallam’s extra point tied the score, 7-7, with 10:20 left.
