MCI Offers Free Service to Troops: MCI Communications Corp. said it will provide free long-distance telephone service to U.S. military personnel serving in Saudi Arabia in the event of a family emergency. Working with the Red Cross, MCI said it will provide the service to “all 50 states, 24-hours a day, seven days a week on a an indefinite basis” in the event of a birth, a death or family illness.
