P.M. BRIEFING : Parenthood Back on Grant List

MINNEAPOLIS — The Dayton Hudson Foundation today reversed an earlier decision that drew an angry response from abortion rights groups and approved an $18,000 grant for a Planned Parenthood community education program.
Cynthia Mayeda, Dayton Hudson Foundation chairwoman, said at a news conference that neither the Dayton Hudson Corp. nor its foundation is taking a position on abortion rights with today’s decision.
The foundation decided last month to end 22 years of financial support of Planned Parenthood for educational programs intended to prevent teen-age pregnancy. At the time, a Dayton Hudson spokeswoman said the move was an attempt to distance the foundation from the abortion issue.
