Police are trying to determine the circumstances leading up to the shooting Monday of a San Diego man.
Michael Ritchey, 28, was found on the ground by residents of the 4200 block of 45th Street, who called police at 1:25 a.m., Sgt. Chuck Peck said.
Ritchey, who was in serious but stable condition at Mercy Hospital Monday evening, had been shot three times, once in the chest, Peck said.
Police traced a blood trail to an apartment in the same block, where they found marijuana and drug paraphernalia as well as 6 to 8 expended bullet casings, said Peck.
Also, they found a second blood trail going out of the apartment in a different direction, leading them to believe there could have been a second victim, Peck said.
