Two men were stabbed with broken beer bottles early Monday morning during a fight that broke out at Lechuga’s Mexican Restaurant.
The fight involving six to 12 people erupted in the bar area about 1 a.m. when a man asked a woman to dance, Police Officer J.B. Hume said.
A window was broken and several bottles were thrown inside the restaurant at 8052 Stark St. near Beach Boulevard.
Gabriel Vasquez, 22, was stabbed in the buttocks with a broken beer bottle. The brawl then moved into the parking lot where 19-year-old Javier Solis of Westminster was beaten with a stick and stabbed with a broken beer bottle several times in the chest.
Vasquez was taken to Huntington Humana Hospital where he was treated and released. Solis was airlifted to Long Beach Memorial Medical Center where he is in fair condition.
After the stabbings, six men were seen running east on Stark Street. Lack of cooperation from witnesses and victims has hampered the investigation, which is continuing, Hume said.
