Former Brookside Owner Pleads Guilty: Michael S. Moers, former co-owner and chairman of Brookside Savings & Loan, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles to four felony counts stemming from his involvement with Brookside and another failed thrift, Westwood Savings & Loan. Moers admitted to using various schemes to cover up his financial dealings with the two thrifts. Sentencing was tentatively set for Dec. 10.
