Robin Wright made it seem in “An Eerie Outpost Awaits GIs” (Column One, Aug. 10) that U.S. armed forces were only in the Middle East in 1942 and then next in 1958.
However, myself and a lot of Air Force personnel have to disagree. I was in the Air Force stationed at Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, during the early part of the Korean War, from October, 1951, to October, 1952.
