Oxnard Youth Shot, Robbed Outside Motel
A 16-year-old Oxnard boy was shot early Saturday morning by a group of youths who chased him down and robbed him, police said.
The youth, whose name was not released by police because of his age, was treated at St. John’s Regional Medical Center for a gunshot wound in his right arm, Lt. Stan Myers said.
Police said the youth was attacked by seven or eight other youths about 12:15 a.m. in the 2700 block of Wagon Wheel Road after they robbed him of his jacket. The group chased the youth to the Wagon Wheel Motor Inn pool area, where he was shot, police reported.
The victim told police he was attacked because the group thought he was a member of a rival gang.
The police report did not identify the gang, Myers said.
