L.A. Man Arrested in Fatal Stabbing
A Los Angeles man was arrested after a stabbing outside a Gardena food market that left another man dead, Gardena police said Saturday.
Juan Carlos Cardenas, 25, was being held in Gardena jail after his arrest on suspicion of murder, police said.
The stabbing occurred shortly before 6 p.m. Friday outside the Gardena Supermarket, 1012 W. Gardena Blvd., a market in the city’s old downtown section.
Cardenas and the victim began fighting inside the store, police said, and Cardenas allegedly stabbed the victim.
A second fight ensued on the sidewalk outside the store, and the victim was fatally stabbed, police said. Cardenas fled and was arrested in the 700 block of Gardena Boulevard, police said.
The victim’s identity was withheld pending notification of his relatives.
